HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Airlines is discovering electrical aircraft know-how with a enterprise based in Boston.
The airline is interested in employing the cars for journey amongst the islands, Hawaii Information Now described.
The firm known as REGENT is coming up with “seagliders” that would every carry up to 100 people today.
Hawaiian has not fully commited to obtaining any of the aircraft but is exploring the probability. A news release from REGENT claimed Hawaiian agreed to strategically commit to help the original style and design of the company’s next-technology seaglider.
Hawaiian is the 1st airline to companion with the corporation, which hopes to have its Monarch seagliders in the air by 2028.
“We glance forward to operating with REGENT to explore the know-how and infrastructure essential to satisfy our vision for practical, relaxed and environmentally sustainable interisland transportation,” said Avi Mannis, chief advertising and marketing and communications officer at Hawaiian Airlines.
REGENT’s seagliders fly by the air shut to the water’s area. The corporation explained the aircraft will service routes up to 180 miles with current battery technological know-how and routes up to 500 miles with future-technology batteries.
